From the beginning, Gracely Products was established to enhance the simplicity of life. In 1957, Walter F. Lee, the CEO of Gracely Products, came home one night and looked at the large cloth covered hole in his door. When he bought the house, the door to the basement had a hole cut out as a dog entrance by the former owner, he had used a heavy rug over the hole to keep the wind out. But Walter's dog playfully kept tearing the rug out, and he had to keep putting it back, so he figured out a way to keep the cold air out without having to replace the rug that covered the hole. So that's how the Doggie Door was born. The Doggie Door is unique in that precision engineered springs (made with heavy piano wire) are used on the door flap instead of hinges. This provides for a smooth return of the door flaps instead of a rapid swinging motion that could harm your dog. The replaceable springs were designed to provide ease of Doggie Door maintenance. Doggie Door is presently sold in many pet shops across United States and was one of the standout items sold through the catalogs of Montgomery Ward and J.C. Penny in the early 70's and 80's. Gracely Products is now on the Internet to provide you with this fantastic product once again in Cyber space. |
